at the street corners
looking into my eyes
cardboard signs
asking me my role
light’s red
can’t drive away
my gut winces
got to feel
got to see
what is it that I want to go away?
the folks without homes?
or my feelings?
as long as there are folks without homes
you and I have the opportunity to lend a hand
or just drive by, as I often have
