DAY 34 – Marriage – A Couple on the Street

A Couple on the Street

linked by marriage
separated by physical space
one slightly ahead
one slightly behind
buffered by calluses that have formed around their hearts
and by the hardening of their bodies

but in my imagination, and theirs,
they are hand in hand, smiling, glowing
and spontaneously stopping from time to time
embracing, to relieve the pressure of the expanding joy in their hearts
thereby releasing that energy into one another

In the beginning, hearts are soft
